- Power on the iPad using the power button on the top left of the device.
- When the device boots, you will see a screen that says “Hello.” At the bottom of the screen you will see “slide to set up.” Slide the arrow to the right to get started.
- Tap the appropriate language to continue.
- Tap “United States” as your country.
- Tap to select a Wi-Fi network. If your network requires a password, you will be prompted to enter it. If you are on campus, choose ATU-Wireless and tap "Next".
- You will then get a notice that “Arkansas Tech will configure your iPad.” Tap "Next" to continue.
- Next, you will be prompted to enter your Arkansas Tech username and password. After entering them, tap "Next". (Example: Username: jdoe, Password: YourPassword1!$)
- Create a passcode to protect your iPad from unauthorized use. Your passcode must be at least 4 characters. There are no complexity requirements for this passcode. It can be a simple 4 digit pin or a complex password, for example, 1234. Tap "Next" to continue.
- Re-enter your passcode to confirm and tap "Next".
- Review the Terms and Conditions from Apple. If you agree, tap "Agree".

Apple ID and password. This is NOT the same as your Arkansas Tech credentials.
- Login with your Apple ID and password IF you have them, and then click "Next".
- If you do NOT have an Apple ID and password, please click "Don't have an Apple ID or forgot?" and you will begin the process to create one.
- Next, activate Siri by tapping "Turn On Siri".
- Finally, tab "Get Started" to complete the setup process and begin using your iPad.
