How do I print from a Mac laptop to a printer in the Ross Pendergraft Library (RPL)?

In order to print to the printers in the library, a custom printer must be configured on a Mac. Follow the steps below to configure the custom printer.
  • Open System Preferences by clicking the Apple icon in the top left corner and clicking "System Preferences...".

  • In the System Preferences window, click "Printers & Scanners".

  • In the Printers & Scanners window, click the + button on the left side.

  • In the Add window, right click (or Control+Click) in the empty space in the tool bar and click "Customize Toolbar".

  • If the Advanced gear is not already in the tool bar, drag it to the tool bar and click "Done".

  • Click the Advanced gear and fill in the following information:
    • Type: Windows printer via spoolss
    • Device: Another Device
    • URL: smb://print.atu.edu/DellUniversalPrintQueue
    • Name: RPL Printers
    • Location: RPL
    • Use: Generic PostScript Printer
    • Click "Add".

  • Print your document normally, selecting the new "RPL Printers" printer. You will be prompted to authenticate before the job can be printed. Enter your email address and password and click "OK".

  • Then you will be connected to the printer you have just selected. The selected printer will install the proper driver on your computer. Once the driver is successfully installed, you can begin to print the printers in the library from your personal LAPTOP. To send your document(s) to the printer, simply click "print".
  • Finally, you will need to go to one of the release stations located in the Library in order to "release" your print job from the queue. To accomplish this, please "log in to" on of the release station computers located on each floor of the library and your document(s) should be there.
Notes:

    ●  Color printer stations are currently located on the first and third floors only.
