If you load up a Blackboard quiz and only one question is shown, this is a problem with Internet Explorer and compatibility view. You need to turn off your compatibility view for IE to display the quiz properly.

To turn on/off Compatibility View -- for IE 10

  1. See if the Compatibility View button appears in the Address bar. (If you don't see the button, there's no need to turn on Compatibility View.)
  2. Tap or click the Compatibility View button to display the site in Compatibility View.

If compatibility view was on, it will now be off.

To turn on Compatibility View -- for IE 9

  1. Click the tools menu or press ALT+T on the keyboard.
  2. Click compatibility view.

Now that compatibility view is turned off, you need to reload the quiz and it will display properly. For some quizzes, depending on how the instructor set them up, you may have to get your quiz attempt reset before you can try to retake the quiz. Contact your instructor to get your attempt reset.

You might also have this problem when using the Respondus Lockdown Browser. The Respondus browser uses Internet Explorer's settings. If you are in Respondus and your quiz only has one question then you will have to exit out of the quiz and Respondus. Open up Internet Explorer and turn off compatibility view. You can now close Internet Explorer, open Respondus and the quiz will display properly. Again, you may have to get your attempt reset if the quiz only allows for one attempt. Contact your instructor to get your quiz attempt reset.
