No. Students are not allowed to attach any type of hub, switch, or router (wireless or wired) to the network jacks in their dorm rooms.


In order for the Office of Information Systems to manage the student network effectively, it cannot allow any of these devices to be attached unless it is directly managed by OIS.


Any devices that are found attached to the student network will be disconnected, and the port to which it is attached will be shut off until the student who owns the device contacts the Office of Residence Life.


Each residence hall that supports wired connectivity generally has one network port per bed in each room.  If your room has more beds than ports, please contact the Campus Support Center by submitting a ticket or calling 479-964-0583.


Simply put, each student is allowed to connect one wired device per network port at a time.
