Cisco Webex gives users the ability to record meetings, both locally and in the cloud. This article will detail how to create a recording using both of those methods, how to access them later, and how to share them with others.
Creating the recording
1. While in your Webex meeting, click the recording button located in the center of the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.
2. You will be presented with two options for recording: Record in cloud and Record on my computer. If you choose to record in the cloud, Webex will save the recording of the meeting on the Webex servers, where you can access it later through the Webex website (discussed in the next section). If you choose to record locally on your computer, you will be prompted to choose a folder on your hard drive, and Webex will save the recording file in that location. When you have made your decision, click "Record".
3. When your meeting is over, you can stop the recording either by clicking the Recording button again, and then clicking "Stop Recording," or you can simply end the meeting. Either way, you'll be presented with a message letting you know that the video is processing, meaning that it can take several minutes before the recording is accessible locally, and even longer before it's available online.
Accessing the Recording
To access a local recording, simply navigate to the folder where you saved it. The rest of this section will deal with accessing a recording off the cloud.
1. Log into your ATU Webex account by going to https://atu.webex.com and using your regular ATU login information.
2. Once you're logged in, click the "Recordings" link on the left side of your screen.
3. On the "My Recorded Meetings" page, you'll see a chronological list of any meetings you have recorded, along with information such as date/time, duration, and file size/format. From here, you can click on the title of the recording to view it. There is also a "Download" button, a "Share" button, and a menu button located on the right side of each recording. From the menu button, you can Edit the title of the meeting.
Sharing the Recording
1. Clicking the "Share" button will open a pop-up window with some sharing options. If you want to email the recording, you can specify the addresses to send it to, along with a personalized message. If you want to post a link to the video (for a Blackboard course, for instance), you can copy it here. You can also require a password for opening the link.
