When doing a Respondus Lockdown Browser test that requires the Respondus Monitoring web camera check you might experience an error called "Video Timed Out".
The following steps are solutions to fix this issue:
Solution 1: Uninstall the Lockdown Brower and reinstall a fresh copy. Respondus sometimes pushes out periodic updates to the Lockdown browser system and can cause an issue with the Lockdown Browser overall. Getting a fresh install of the latest version is the proper way in ensuring you have the latest version.
Solution 2: If solution 1 doesn't solve the issue then we recommend calling your Internet Service Provider. If your Upload Speed is below 2 MBPS then you will encounter this error. The webcam video will have trouble connecting back cleanly to our servers if the upload speed is that low. This mostly happens if you're using a hot spot, have satellite internet, or live in a rural area with slow internet connectivity.
Calling your ISP and asking to up your upload speed or going to a different location like a public library is the only other solution.
