Unlike Kaltura Capture, which you have to log into video.atu.edu to use so it knows whose My Media repository a recording belongs to, Kaltura Classroom does not have a login. So you have to tell it who the recording belongs to.
After an instructor has recorded a lecture in a classroom using Kaltura Classroom, they are presented with a screen that provides them a place to change the default name their recording and assign it to themselves. When a recording is assigned, it will show up in their My Media repository when they log into video.atu.edu. From there, they can download it, share it, or even embed it in Blackboard directly from Kaltura.
On this screen, they can change the default Title of their recording, and more importantly, they must enter their User Name (including @atu.edu). Clicking Save uploads their recording to the Kaltura system with or without a User Name.
If the instructor did not enter a User Name, their recording is “lost” to them, because it was uploaded to the Kaltura system using a generic [email protected] User Name, and they submit a ticket.
At https://kmc.kaltura.com/index.php/kmcng/login there has been a login for you to use with [email protected]. You may need to reset the password to it as it doesn’t use SSO.
When logged in, go to the Content tab at the top, then to Entries in the sub-menu. Here you can narrow a search for an entry by entering the generic username, and then use the time of their recording to find their particular recording.
Once you find it, click on the Users tab. Here you can change the owner to the actual owner. You can also add other folks as co-editor or co-publisher. This recording will now show up to any of those users in their My Media.
Instructors should not be told to go get their recording from the C: drive of the computer they created it on. They do not get their metadata this way.
