Kaltura allows users to add others as “Collaborators” on their videos uploaded to Kaltura with different permissions based on the role you select. This feature is often used within departments to share videos between instructors for ease of publication.
Why add Collaborators?
Adding collaborators to your Kaltura Media enables them to publish, manage or edit the video. When you upload media to Kaltura you are set as the “Owner” and have full permissions over the video. This means you can edit, publish, view analytics, download, assign permissions or even delete your video. The Owner of a particular video can add others to their videos with the following permissions:

Co-Editor |
Co-Publisher |
Co-Viewer |

For example, if you'd like to allow an instructor to publish videos in your course but don't want them to made any changes you can set them as "Co-Publisher". If you're collaborating on a video to, for example, create a video quiz, "Co-Editor" may be what you're looking for. If you'd just like someone to view the video from their My Media page but it's not ready to be published yet add them as a "Co-Viewer".
How do I add users as a Collaborator?
You can add Collaborators by first navigating to the Kaltura Media you'd like to share. You can do this through the following methods:
- Video.atu.edu - Navigate to https://video.atu.edu and log in (in the top-right corner). After logging in, click your name in the top-right corner and select My Media. Here, search for the media you'd like to add a Collaborator to, then click the edit icon.
-
The Blackboard Tools Page - Navigate to https://bblearn.atu.edu and login. Select Tools then Kaltura MyMedia. Here, search for the media you'd like to add a Collaborator to, then click the edit icon (see image below).
- Once you've located the video you'd like to add a Collaborator to, click the edit button on the right side of the video that resembles a pencil (see image below)
- Under the media, click Collaboration, then Add Collaborator
- Select the role you'd like to set (Refer to the chart above for which Permissions are granted) and then enter the individual's ATU email address (For example, [email protected]). When the user appears in the drop-down box, click their name and then click Add at the bottom.
How do I find content that I'm a Collaborator of?
If you know the title of the video you can search for it in Blackboard or at Video.atu.edu (see directions above). You can also click "Filters" under My Media and select one of the options under Ownership to filter items by permissions.
