Yes, if new employees are brand new to Tech, they will need to activate their account at http://ams.atu.edu; however, if they have ever been a student or employee in the past, their account may already be activated. In this case, their supervisor will receive an email with their username . Once they receive the username, they will need to go to http://ams.atu.edu and change their password there.
Please choose one of the two new employee groups below and follow the procedure to activate your account.
Group 1: You were a Tech student or employee BEFORE.
- Go to http://ams.atu.edu.
- Click on the "Change Password" link if you remember your old password, or on the "Forgot Password" link if you no longer remember your password.

The first part of each process differs, but after successfully beginning the process, become the same as detailed below.
Change Password - Type in the username and password that you have previously used at ATU.
- Check the "I'm not a robot" box and click on the "Submit" button.
- After this, the instructions are the same for Change Password and are continued below the Forgot Password section here.
Forgot Password
- Type in your ATU username and the recovery account information you previously setup, either your recovery email(something other than your ATU email) or your recovery phone number.
- Check the "I'm not a robot" box and click on the "Submit" button.
- If you entered the correct recovery account, you will receive either an email with a link in it or a text message with a link in it to Start the Recovery Process. When clicked, it should take you back to the ams.atu.edu page to begin
Completing the Process
- Review and confirm your security questions and answers. Click Submit after you have reviewed your security questions and answers.
- Review and update your recovery information, and click Submit.
- Enter and confirm your new password, and click SUBMIT. Please carefully review the Arkansas Tech University password policy for selecting your new password.
- Also make sure to complete any Policy Agreements that appear on the page under the New Password section.
Group 2: You were NOT a Tech student or employee BEFORE.
