Windows 10 S is a scaled down version of regular Windows 10. Microsoft is starting to push pretty heavily that does not allow the installation of x86 programs. The only thing that can be installed is APPS from the Windows Store. This will of course cause problems when they need to install anything school-related. Fortunately, for the first year of owning one of these laptops Microsoft has given customers the option to install "full" Windows 10 without much effort.
