There are times where you may want to forward calls that are trying to reach you at your extension to another number.  This other number maybe another extension on the VoIP system, such as a coworker, or to a remote phone number, such as your cell phone.  One way to do this is called "Call Forwarding".

Call Forwarding will immediately forward any calls that were dialed directly to your extension or telephone number (if you have one).  Calls coming into your department's Hunt Group will not be forwarded even if your device is a part of, and logged in, to the Hunt Group.  To learn how to answer Department Hunt Group calls remotely, please see How do I answer Hunt Group calls for my Department while working remotely?

Please keep in mind, calls being forwarded will not ring on your extension while the forward is in place and will instead proceed directly to the number you forwarded to.  Unanswered calls will not go to your ATU voicemail and, will instead, go to the voicemail of the number you forwarded to if that number has one set up.

Example:
You forward your extension to your personal cell phone. Caller A calls your extension directly and the call starts ringing your personal cell phone. If you do not answer, Caller A will then get sent to your personal cell phone's voicemail.

Meanwhile, Caller B calls your department's advertised main number. If your desk phone is still logged in to the Hunt Group, Caller B rings to your desk phone and proceeds to the next phone in the Hunt Group list when it is not answered. Caller B does not get forward to your personal cell phone.

If you need to be able to answer your calls remotely, but want unanswered calls to use your ATU voicemail, please see How do I set up Single Number Reach?

How to set up Call Forward while at your desk phone

To set up Call Forwarding while at your desk phone:

  1. Along the bottom of the screen should be a series of buttons that say things like "Redial", "New Call", etc. Navigate the buttons at the bottom of the phone's screen until you locate "Forward All" (8945: 8845: ) and push it. This option may not be on the first page and you may need to click the button to move to the next page.

  2. The phone will beep and ask where you would like to forward the calls to.  Please enter the extension or phone number that you'd like to forward to.  The phone may start to make the busy signal sound but you can proceed with dialing the number.

  3. Once you're finished dialing, wait for the dialing timeout to expire and the phone will then indicate the phone is now forwarded.  The display will update and show that your extension is forwarded and to what extension or telephone number you are forwarded to.

  4. Your extension is now forwarded.

To turn off Call Forwarding, simply navigate on the bottom menu back to where you found the "Forward All" button.  The button will now display "Forward off" instead.  Select that option and your phone will beep and update the display to indicate that your extension is now longer forwarded.
